In 2011, 13 awesome women from Glasgow went to India.

Their mission?

To explore the dreams, beliefs, and entrepreneurial spirit of women's Self-Help Groups there. They found ordinary-looking women doing extraordinary things.

United in collectives, these women defied poverty and emerged as true change-makers and entrepreneurs, changing lives, families, and communities, creating a movement of over 10 million small groups sparking monumental transformations. Small, Powerful Groups (SPGs) are also called Self-Reliant Groups (SRGs) in some parts of the UK and were pioneered by us here at WEvolution.

Fired up and forever changed, our Glasgow trailblazers couldn't keep it to themselves. Forming their own group in March 2011, they pooled their resources, started a group savings pot and started a much-needed community lunch club. One member then dreamed of finally starting a little laundrette business...

With the support of the group and their collective savings, they were able to make this a reality Jake. And guess what? The business is still thriving today. right in Provanmill. Since then, other small, powerful groups have been making a huge impact through little communities like ours.
